This revitalisation plan was commissioned from LEMAY by a resident association seeking to revive their hometown; a small village lodged between the St-Lawrence River and the renowned mountain resort of Mont Sainte-Anne. Our goal was to propose a new vision and master plan grounded in the residents’ aspirations while propososing innovative ways to engage with a segment of the tourism market that locals felt excited to host.
We began our research by creating an online survey to gather the thoughts of over 1800 residents. This complemented the user-interviews, group interviews, ideation sessions, field work and site analysis that we carried out to thicken our understanding of the place. One important finding immediately stood out: nearly everyone agreed that a town center should be planned at the base of the mountain. This development should address the place's F&B industry as of the weakest points in Mont-Sainte-Anne. For us, it also meant that we had found a project to get the process started that everyone would rally behind.
